Popular Japanese two-wheeler brand Honda is gearing up to launch a new model of its best-selling gearless scooter Activa in India. According to the documents released by the Department of Transport, the new variant of Activa 6G is called Honda Activa Smart. Looking at the teaser released by the company, it is assumed that it may include some kind of hybrid technology. Which will help increase fuel efficiency. The Scoota is slated to debut in India on January 23.
The new version of the Activa will run on the same 109.51 cc engine as before. From which a maximum power of 7.8 bhp will be generated. That's just 0.1 bhp more than the regular model. The total weight capacity of the scooter with luggage, passengers will be 279 kg, which is again 1 kg more than the standard model of Activa.
It is claimed that the Honda Activa Smart Scooter will have 'H-Smart' technology to reduce the chances of theft. Which is actually a kind of anti-theft feature. Besides, it will save more fuel due to Honda Ignition Security System. Presumably, this new anti-theft feature by the company may be added to their entry level bike Honda Shine.
Incidentally, Honda filed a patent last year to bring anti-theft two-wheelers with their H-Smart technology. Their new technology may be first used in the Activa Smart. As a result, the price of the new model may increase by Rs. 3000. Along with this, Honda has started its efforts to launch a 100 cc bike to compete with the Splendor. Its oil consumption will be negligible.
