The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 13 is expected to be announced at CES 2023 within days. This machine would offer a dual screen in a portable format. It would be a 13-inch laptop PC consisting of two screens separated by a Yoga-type hinge that would open 360°.

It would be a 13-inch laptop PC consisting of two screens separated by a Yoga-type hinge that would open 360°. A device that could be used as a tablet as well as a classic laptop but also offer a tent mode where two people would enjoy a different display. The possibility of opening the hinge and placing the machine flat in front of the user would also allow a double display in portrait mode interesting to use.


Delivered with a small Bluetooth keyboard and an active stylus, the Lenovo YogaBook 9i 13 would therefore be used as a normal laptop on the move. By considering one of its touch screens as a keyboard or by positioning the keyboard over the screen as we have already seen in the past. A use that is mainly limited to semi-sedentary operation since it is not possible to fold the machine on itself with this integrated keyboard.


I am still skeptical about this type of design. They are generally heavy and power-hungry with two screens to power. We can always use only one display on the move to avoid suffering too much reduced autonomy, but this takes away a good part of the interest of the product. And this all the more so as it is necessary to take into account the price, the weight and the size of the set with the keyboard and mouse accessories. While some uses appear to be interesting, they remain very specific, niche, and will in reality only concern a minority of professions. The use of a secondary screen that is connected via HDMI or, more and more commonly via Thunderbolt or USB, offering the same type of service in general.


We are missing a lot of data about this machine. Its price to start with, even if I do not doubt for a moment that it is very highly placed, while its use will ultimately affect only a few professionals. The internal equipment is unknown even if we can assume a use of high-end chips associated with DDR5, a large NVMe storage and the latest classic refinements.
