The upcoming Motorola Defy 5G
Everything indicates that two years after the reactivation of the Motorola Defy series, the company is preparing to present a new smartphone with an increased degree of resistance to damage. However, it will not be just a rugged smartphone, because with the launch it will be the first to offer a completely new, innovative function that can save lives in life or health-threatening situations. So what can we expect from the successor of Motorola Defy 2021, which will most likely appear on the market under the name Motorola Defy 5G?
Motorola Defy 5G is the first smartphone with Bullitt Satellite Connect
Motorola has yet to officially announce this phone, so details about its specs and features (other than Bullitt's satellite connectivity) are unknown, but Bullitt says more details are expected to be revealed soon. And this means that in the coming weeks, the technical specification, as well as the appearance and all kinds of information about the Motorola Defy 5G will probably get to the Internet.
It is certain that the device will make its official debut in the first quarter of 2023 along with the satellite messaging service. This service will be a bargaining chip for a rugged Motorola smartphone, as no other manufacturer will initially offer such a solution.
Motorola Defy 5G will therefore be an ideal smartphone for medical services, uniformed services (in particular the army), or all those traveling where there is a high risk of losing the coverage offered by the mobile network.
It's also great for emergencies where a person might get lost or stuck somewhere, and in normal circumstances might just not have cellular coverage to call for help. Something feels like this feature will become mainstream in the near future, with more and more phone makers adopting it.
The new Bullitt Satellite Connect satellite service
The latest information about the work in progress on the Motorola Defy 5G smartphone comes from a very reliable source, namely Bullitt. For the uninitiated, they are responsible for the durable CAT smartphones and the Motorola Defy 2021 model. The imminent premiere of the smartphone was announced at CES 2023, on the occasion of the company's implementation of the new Bullitt Satellite Connect service. It is a satellite service that allows users to send and receive text messages, send SOS requests and share their location via satellite. The service will be implemented in cooperation with the telecommunications company Skylo and using Inmarsat satellites.
For this new satellite service to work, you need the right compatible device, and one of them is to be the upcoming Motorola Defy 5G. Later, sending and receiving text messages via satellite will also be offered by a CAT smartphone, which will also be created in close cooperation with Bullitt.
In order for a message sent via Bullitt Satellite Connect to be read on another Android or iOS device, you will need to download and install the free app. For now, it only supports text and emoticons, but the company adds that support for images, audio, and video will come later as the new service develops.
Motorola Defy 5G price
Bullitt stated that "the cost of the messages will be deducted from the satellite messaging subscriber's plan with no cost to the recipient," though the specifics are unknown. The SOS Assistance and the monthly subscription plan to begin at as little as$ 4.99 US Dollars, but they will be free for the first year. Although the cost of the Motorola Defy 5G rugged phone is currently unknown, it is anticipated that it will be revealed sometime in the first quarter of 2023.
