Sony PlayStation Q Lite handheld console
According to recent Insider Gaming reports, Sony is reportedly developing a new handheld gaming console called the Q Lite. The PlayStation 5 will be required for the device's functionality and is reportedly another addition to the PlayStation family.
To stream games from the PS5 to the handheld device, the Q Lite is anticipated to use Remote Play, a feature that Sony has recently been promoting. It's designed to offer an impressive gaming experience because it can stream up to 1080p and 60 frames per second. To function, the device will need a constant internet connection, it should be noted.
Visually, the Q Lite resembles the PS5 controller in terms of design, but it has an 8-inch LCD touchscreen in the center. Additionally, the gadget has standard handheld gaming features and adaptive triggers.
According to reports, the Q Lite is still in the QA stage and is anticipated to debut before the PS5 Pro but after the Detachable Disc Drive PS5. Sony is reportedly preparing for its second phase of the PS5, which will include new hardware offerings, and has already unveiled the PlayStation VR2 with a thinner design and improved comfort last year.
Jeff Grubb, an insider in the industry, predicts that Sony's upcoming game lineup, along with new hardware items like wireless earphones and headsets, and the eagerly anticipated Q Lite handheld device, will play a significant role in this second phase.
Gamers will have plenty of time to enjoy the current PS5 and any new hardware releases in the interim thanks to the PS3 Pro, which is anticipated to be released during the holiday season of 2024.
